Principal: Mr. Arthur F. Waleski
Huntingdon Area High School
was dedicated January 15,1961, and completed a major renovation in 2006.
The High School offers its approximately 800 students in grades 9-12
educational programs which prepare them to continue their education or
enter the job market following graduation. An accelerated academic
program is also available to college bound students. Learning and
emotional support staff work with the classroom teachers to promote the
achievement of all students. Musical, artistic, guidance, and
athletic departments serve to enhance and enrich the school's academic
programs. Our students also participate in the vocational courses
offered at the Huntingdon County Career and Technology Center.
The administration,
faculty, and staff of HAHS strive to fulfill the tenets of President
George W. Bush's federal program, NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND. Ongoing
efforts in curriculum review, staff development, technology, and school
security demonstrate our commitment to the success of each student. Next year the High School
enters a new era of 21st century learning classrooms.
The Classrooms for the Future grant will compliment our efforts of
becoming a 21st century learning institution.
New WEB 2.0 tools, a new wireless infrastructure, and a new
professional learning communities approach to education will greatly
change how High school classes are being taught.
We look forward to this new teaching style and the challenges
ahead, as we prepare our students to become life long learners in this new
world of global economics.
